About E-max
E-max is a lithium-disilicate ceramic used for veneers and selected crowns. Its optical qualities can help create natural-looking restorations, but the material alone does not determine success. Diagnosis, preparation, bonding, laboratory work and bite control are equally important.
Who may be suitable
Veneers may be discussed for selected colour, shape, wear or spacing concerns. Significant decay, active gum disease, very limited enamel, severe grinding or large existing restorations may change the plan.
Designing a believable smile
Aesthetic planning should consider face, lip movement, tooth proportions, surface texture, translucency and the patient’s existing features. “One shade fits all” dentistry can look artificial. The aim should be an agreed, maintainable result rather than maximum whiteness.
Risks and alternatives
Veneer treatment is usually irreversible when enamel is prepared. Possible problems include sensitivity, chipping, debonding, gum irritation and the need for future replacement. Alternatives include whitening, bonding, orthodontics or crowns when teeth need greater structural coverage.
